You need to replace the HDD. Ive used fdisk, and Partition Magic to try to sort out the hard disk but after re-partitioning and re-formatting, the ONLY Operating system that will re-install is Windows 7. The weird thing is I was using a multitask dos boot utility's cd it also shows all the info regarding the hard drive make model and size. The only thing to do is if the hard drive is a type of SATA you must go first to BIOS and under Configuration change the SATA Drives to IDE, then I kept getting a hang up on 'verifying DMI pool data' when I rebooted after installing Win XP.
