After reformatting I only installed the following: MS office, malwarebytes, avast antivirus, msn messenger, firefox, google chrome, and an online game. ihave a compaq laptop. its definitely worth a shot especially since formatting software is mostly free and very simple to burn to a CD and run pre-system boot in order to wipe the disk for so finally when i was able to do a recovery it stopped freezing.
