He suggested the problem might be that there are some bad sectors on the drive- but wouldn't disk utility have picked up on that?

I hoped that somebody who had a similar issue could help me out, because there are already a lot of guys with m.2 and PCIe SSDs around in this forum. In the few seconds that the screen is live, the mouse works too, and all the icons/dock load correctly, so this is extra puzzling.

While in safe mode, I've tried to do a purge of all the applications/files that could be causing trouble, all to no avail. Once reported, our moderators will be notified and the post will be reviewed. The only thing I have done is get my normal programs like Steam and Chrome. I currently have the same problem.
