What is the model number and make of your laptop? I wasn't charge for anything as they said it was just simple. Fix I did: 1. Boot in safe mode - press F8 when the Windows loader presents you with the 30 second list of choices, and then select "Safe Mode" as your boot option.

I know turning off at the power button can damage the hard drive over time, so I DO want to try to get this resolved once and for all. The only difference is that this time before it started not letting me on there seemed to be a virus on it as whenever you went onto the internet & tried I guess that evntually solved the problem?

Under general choose selective startup and uncheck load system services and uncheck load startup items. I have spend hours to search for the solution but nothing worked. I tried startup repair but it didn't work. In the Value Data box, it should show  'Explorer.exe'  and nothing else.
